Captain’s Away Day 2020

Spalding Golf Club

Friday, 25th September 2020

In order to comply with the CovID changes recently announced by the government (“Rule of Six”) we must not be in groups of more than six inside or outside whilst attending this event. Playing groups (of 4) will eat together at the same table. The earlier groups will then need to move on to another area within the clubhouse, and must not be in groups of more than six. If the weather is favourable we will be able to use the patio area, which will make things a lot easier.

Raffle prize donations (in advance of the day) would be very much appreciated.

The Course
Spalding Golf Club is a mature, 18 hole par 72 parkland course, measuring in excess of 6500 yards from the White tees. Accuracy is required from the tee to the tree lined fairways and small undulating greens. Water, including the river Glen, comes into play on several holes.

I have chosen this venue because it was the home club of my brother Alec who sadly passed away in July 2019 following a major stroke. Alec was also well known to several Ramsdale Park members. There will be a tribute element to the day incorporating a charity raffle and funds raised on the day will be donated to the Stroke Unit at Pilgrim Hospital, where Alec was cared for during his stroke. Raffle prize donations would be very much appreciated.

Due to the flat nature of the course there is little demand for buggies, and actually only three are available for hire, which I have reserved. Those with special need for a buggy should inquire with me regarding availability.

Restrictions are naturally in place due to the CovID-19 situation. Social distancing rules apply although we will have some way to “gather” afterwards.

Travel / Coach Places
Although several participants will choose to make their own transport arrangements. There is limited space available, at no charge, on a coach that has been hired by the club. Anyone wishing to request a place on the coach should contact me directly to check availability.
