Winter Rules
The Winter Rules are now in force.
Which basically means “preferred lies” on fairways and fringes.
Also, if your ball hits ropes or posts protecting the green you MUST retake your shot.
Winter Rules are in place at present (“Preferred Lies”).
A ball lying on a closely-mown area in the General Area may be lifted without penalty and cleaned. Having lifted the ball, it must be placed on a spot within six inches of where it originally lay, not nearer the hole, not in a hazard and not on a putting green. (Rule 14.1a)
Please note that “closely-mown” only refers to the fairways and the fringe of the greens.
Please also be aware of the following Local Rule regarding the post and ropes that are protecting the greens:-
If your ball strikes the rope/post, the shot MUST be replayed without penalty, irrespective of outcome.
Please check before each round to ensure that the winter rules are still in place and have not been amended.
Embedded Ball – Rule Reminder (This rule applies throughout the year)
A ball that is embedded anywhere in the General Area may be lifted, cleaned and dropped, without penalty within one club length, but not nearer the hole. (see Rule 16.3a for definition and exceptions)
