Captains Report February 2019.

Well the time has finally come for me to take the helm.

Firstly many thanks for your support at the AGM.

I am looking forward to representing the club this year in as many things as possible and look forward to all your support.

I will be doing my Captains drive in on Saturday 2nd March around 2:30pm, we have had lots of support and with the great effort of my Vice Captain Mr Richard Hone and all your fantastic contributions we have raised a considerable amount for this years charity.

So please stick around after your round for what will be a laugh.

My Captains away day is now booked for Friday 7th June 2019 to Stoke Rochford Golf Course and the details are on the notice board so if you wish to join me on what will be a great day then please put your names down on the sheet.

We are currently experiencing some crazy warm conditions with Monday 25th February being the warmest recorded. So lets make the most of it and get out there playing.

I have also enjoyed some fabulous golf with my Ramsdale PRO-AM team (Matthew Buckley, Gary Box, Mick Greenwood and Me) in the Portugal for the Notts PGA PRO AM, where we actually recorded a great win on day 2 at the old course Vilamoura shooting an impressive 16 under par so great effort from all the team, during this effort

I also recorded one of my finest rounds shooting 4 over par 77 beating lots of the attending professionals who were really impressed.

Whilst the conditions over here are good at present don’t be fooled as they may be short lived, I know the greenkeepers are doing everything they can at present to get our course back to the superb state it was last year and lots of work and effort is going in, although the condition is not the best at the minute it is short term pain for the long term gain we all thoroughly enjoyed last year, so please bear with us.

That all said there are lots of you enjoying the current playing conditions with some crazy high scores coming in with over 10% of the recent stableford entries shooting over 40 points – WOW.

I Look forward to seeing you all around the club throughout the year and remember:

“If you think it’s hard to meet new people, try picking up the wrong golf ball.”
