Captains Away Day 2018

On Friday 8^th June 2018, 20 members from Ramsdale joined me for my Captains Away day at Rushcliffe Golf Club.

For a start, the weather was good – a far cry from the previous weekend when my Captains day was rained off due to extremely heavy rain flooding the greens and making it unplayable.

 

Well, Rushcliffe have recently hired a new greenkeeper, and for those who have played the course before they admitted that there was a vast improvement in the playing surfaces, and to the course in general too. Now I had not played the course before, but luckily I had Kevin Ironmonger, Will Davies and Matt Buckley to show me the way around which was a great help – for those who have not played the course before, there are some blind shots which you need to navigate which makes it very interesting. The greens played true, albeit with some very interesting slopes and pin positions which made some of us look a bit silly, but if you rolled it on the correct line you had every chance of holing the putts.

After the round we were presented with a great meal prepared by the club, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chris, Marie and Paul from Rushcliffe for their hospitality on the day.

• 1^st : Dave Spencer 35 points
• 2^nd : John Hilton 34 points
• 3^rd : Chris Oakes 34 points
• Nearest the pin on 3^rd : Tom McLatchie
• Nearest the pin on 14^th : Tom McLatchie
